Charter Boats Gold Coast: Everything You Need to Know Before You Book
Comparing charter boats on the Gold Coast involves more than finding an hourly rate. Check what the price covers, how many guests can travel and whether the boat and itinerary suit your occasion.
Use this checklist to compare your options and plan a private charter with Inspiration Cruises.
1. Check what kind of boat hire you are booking
A skippered private charter reserves the boat for your group with a skipper responsible for navigation. A shared cruise sells spaces on a trip with other passengers. Drive-yourself hire has different responsibilities and operating arrangements.
Inspiration Cruises provides private yacht charters with skipper and crew aboard Inspiration, a 51ft Sealine T51 motor yacht. You are booking the yacht for your group rather than buying individual sightseeing tickets.
2. Confirm the guest limit and facilities
Inspiration carries up to 25 guests. Confirm your full guest count before booking, including children. If someone has mobility or access needs, discuss boarding with us in advance so you can decide whether the arrangements are suitable.
The yacht has indoor and outdoor entertaining areas, bathroom facilities, a sound system for your own playlist and onboard Wi-Fi. View the yacht and our photos and videos to help your group picture the space.
3. Compare the whole-charter cost
Our standard price is $690 per hour including GST, comprising $650 per hour plus a $40 per hour fuel levy. The minimum booking is two hours, or $1,380 total. Three hours is $2,070 and four hours is $2,760.
When comparing boats, ask whether the quoted rate includes the skipper, crew, GST and fuel, and which extras are charged separately. With Inspiration Cruises, catering and separately arranged entertainment are additional. Check special-event session prices separately, including New Year’s Eve.
For group planning, divide the charter total by the number of people contributing. For example, a $2,070 three-hour charter shared by 20 people is $103.50 each before food, drinks and extras. The charter total stays the same if your group becomes smaller. See our pricing page for current rates.
4. Match your itinerary to the duration
Tell us what matters most: sightseeing through Surfers Paradise, a birthday celebration, sunset views or a possible swim stop. The Nerang River and Broadwater provide different cruising options, while plans involving Wave Break Island, South Stradbroke Island or Tipplers need enough time for travel and any stop.
Discuss your preferred cruise destination before choosing a duration. Routes and stops depend on conditions, booking length and the skipper’s assessment; they are not guaranteed simply by selecting a charter length.
5. Check the food, drinks and decoration arrangements
BYO food and drinks are welcome, with no red wine onboard. We supply a large esky, ice, cups, plates, plastic champagne flutes and tumblers. You can also arrange optional catering.
Small, removable decorations are welcome if they do not damage surfaces. No confetti or permanent adhesives are permitted. We do not supply decorations or styling; discuss large installations and any entertainment before booking suppliers.
6. Read the payment and cancellation terms
A $500 deposit secures a standard advance booking, with the balance due two weeks before departure. For a booking close to the cruise date, check the amount due at checkout. Read our Terms & Conditions for deposits, cancellations and changes before making payment.
7. Share the correct boarding details
Our boarding point is the public pontoon at 73 Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217. Arrive 10 minutes before the confirmed departure. Parking at Circle on Cavill or on surrounding streets is paid; allow time to park and walk.
Send everyone the cruise information before the day, including footwear, BYO and arrival guidance. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian throughout the cruise.
